I have not had any experience with pt photo ceramics but would also like to
hear from anyone who has. The one method I have seen involves making a wet
plate collodion image (negative) ala Mathew Brady. The plate is then bathed
in a platinum solution to convert the colloidal silver into platinum. The
collodion is then stripped from the glass plate and affixed to the ceramic
object. During the firing, the collodion evaporates, since it is virtually
ashless, leaving the platinum deposit on the ceramic. The ceramic is then
refired with a clear glaze. Sounds to me like a nice way for photo artists
to get some of that 1% money for art that goes along with a lot of big city
hi-rise projects.
