Making pinhole cameras

The classical name for this art form is "Stenopaic Photography." The
classic literature warns against making pin tunnels as what is desired is
pin holes. It seems that with a tunnel there are two aperatures, an entry
and an exit one. Each aperature will image slightly out of phase. With a
hole there is theoretically only one aperature whch should be like a knife
edge, thus the reason for the dimpling and sanding of the aperature area
before needling it. This is one argument agains the laser punched holes. Of
course, the out of pahase double image made by a pin tunnel might just be
what you are looking for.
