When I fitst started someone managed to drop a heavy weight onto the handle of a
spoon containing silver nitrate which arched across the room staining the
ceiling on the way. The book in which I sought to find the answer for Derek is
still covered in silver nitrate stains.

I remember that the only method that worked for me, and this is going to depend
upon the nature of the surface, was to dab the spots with a tincture of iodine
followed by dilute potassium dichromate, then sodium thiosulphate and then
water. Repeat until some effect results and then decide whether further repeats
are going to be as effective as a surreptitious replacement of the work surface.

But then as general practice one should keep all alt process materials away from
food areas, even the food you use for alt processes, and never keep them in food
containers. This warning comes from someone who once managed to drink a litre of
potassium metabisulphite on a warm summer's night.
