Heliochromes

Judy.

I was well aware of the dispute.

My comments on the 'heliochrome' process were confined entirely to the technical
and carefully avoided any 'aesthetic' judgements. They were in answer to a
question on the list.

As I said, Dunstan's comments were alarmist and aimed at selling his kits. By
stirring up the dispute he gained a lot of valuable publicity . As I knew that
that was just what Dunstan was doing, I avoided becoming involved. It's all
part of the marketing.

The amateur 'heliochromes' I saw were multi coated.

I did not miss the irony. When I started gum printing I checked on the safety
aspects to find that in the small quantities that gum printers would use we have
nothing to worry about given sensible use.

Butter and sugar and general over eating are far more dangerous as US mortality
rates show. As to alcohol and tobacco they have now killed eighteen of my
friends ten or twenty years before their three score years and ten.

In conclusion, Judy, may I wish you many many more years of healthy gum
printing.

Terry

PS Thanks for the quotes which I had only heard about at second hand.
