Luis,
I understand that for decals to produce true continuos tone effects, you
would have to use multi-filament nylon at 120 mesh size for better results.
Sometimes, the quality of the photo positive that you are using to produce
the screen for making decals also matter, ie. if the positive is high contrast,
the decals will be too.
Anyway to get continuous tone decals is to separate the tones on the original
image and print the decals in separate layers. It's something like colour
separation.
Previously, Kodak photo-resist emulsion and Kodak Ortho resist emulsion
are capable of producing continuous tone effects for photographic images..
however, these are no longer in production. I am also searching for alternative
emulsions..
