I would like to comment on this newbie issue. I primarily lurk here. I
ve posted perhaps a dozen times in the year I ve belonged to this group.
People need to understand that this group (and all similar groups) are
conversation groups. It is not a library, and no one is owed an answer
to any given question. Very, very, very few questions presented here fail
to generate some sort of reply or cross-conversation. This is normal and
to be expected. Let me give an example of cross-conversation . My first
post to this group was about how to measure the density range of a
negative, in order to tailor it to an alt process. This led not to an
answer to my question, but to a long and rather heated discussion on my use
of zone system terms, and weather or not they were appropriate for alt
process. I did repeat my question, and did finally get some opinions
(which disagreed with each other!!). This led me to do more research, and
answer my own question (which I posted to the group). The conversation
that my question generated was contentious, and came close to flames as
people explained and defended there working methods. That is why it was
interesting and worthwhile. I will continue to work with my personalized
zone system methods, but at least now I understand how these other folks
are working.
Also, don t be thin skinned in cyberspace. We all tend to be opinionated,
strong people. Why else would we chose not only alt processes, but to talk
to international strangers about it???
