Tox,

While I have never tried hypersensitizing in ammonia vapors, I
have tried hpersensitizing in heated Hydrogen Peroxide vapors. It did seem
to help minimize the loss of shadow detail with a two stop push. I have
only used it three times, as I usually opt for TMZ when I need the speed,
rather than "push" a 400 speed film. I still prefer the look of TMZ, and
the hypersensitizing treatment is a bit of a hassle compared to normal
processing of TMZ. The technique is fully described in Steve Anchell's
"The Darkroom Cookbook", published by Focal Press.
