OK Judy, invitation accepted. Yes, I use Rives BFK for cyanotype. I like
it. It soaks up the sensitizer real good and gives me a nice even coating
with a sponge or Hake brush. It stands up well after repeated soaking. The
only question that has arisen about this paper is if it is buffered. If
it is, that would be very bad for cyanotype prints. However, I have tested
the Ph of every batch of Rives BFK I have every received in the last
couple of years and have found it to be neutral. i.e. no batch has tested
above Ph 7.0 which indicates that it is not buffered in spite of what
has been written about it somewhere. Since Judy is more of a worrywart
than I am so she worrys about this and won't use it. I suppose if I
lived in NYC, I would worry a lot also. ;-) Here in West Virginia, we
just take another swig of moonshine, go out and kick the tires on one
of 10 or 15 old cars parked in the front yard and sit on the front porch
and scratch the hounddog's ear.
