I found glass rods this size. They were sold as a bathroom towel rack with
brass end caps. I haven't seen them recently so I can't give you a source.
I hang my paper to dry after sizing and when I got lazy I just dragged the
paper over the edge of the sizing tray. When I couldn't detect any
difference between that paper and paper I used the glass rods I quit using
the glass rods.
