re:pH of water

The pH of tapwater in itself is of minor importance to photography. The
alkaline or acid reserve of the water itself is quite small relative to the
amount of added material which would usually buffer the solution quite beyond
anything in the water.

That is, if there were a small amount of Ca/Mg carbonate dissolved in the water
which would bring the water to a slightly high pH, an added amount of, for
example, potassium oxalate would overwhelm it.

Extensive rinsing with tap water might make a small difference I suppose if the
paper were unbuffered.
