If she really uses my leaflet, the purpose of a certain alum is written there,
after "Developing": "Hardening: The sensitive gelatin image can be hardened in a
5% solution of formalin or chrome alum."

I wrote "can" be hardened, as in many cases it is not necessary. We also didn't
do it during the demo. It is like Al said: if the image is to be transferred or
another image shall be put over it, hardening may be useful.

I also heard that potassium alum is bad for papers. But Bas certainly will know
why...

BTW: What does KoL mean?
