Nice to talk to you away from the theory.
You say:
>1.) I know I probably can't afford to buy a sunbed, or any other mercury
>vapour light source at this stage of the game
That is just the point. Now that people are realising that health lamps give you
cancer you can pick them up for less than the cost of a couple of tubes. The
other MV lamp costs no more than the black light tubes and is easier to set up.

>2.) As I was describing to Ron Silvers today at the Toronto Historical
>Photographic Society Fair (a.k.a. photo + rummage flea market),
I got an early camera lucida at one the other day. I use it at the beginning of
my course on photo history. Give Ron my best regards, and I mean that.
> I absolutely
>love the idea of building my own unit, with UV flourescent bulbs. I need a
>little electical/carpentry et al know how! :)
That is really why I asked. What I wanted to know, quite objectively, was
whether the making of the unit was part of the objective and whether, if that
objective could be achieved without having to make the unit, that some of the
enjoyment would have been removed from making the prints. Warning: this is a
market survey question.
>No offense Terry, I'm just working within my means.
No reason for any offence. That is the kind of information I needed. Thanks.
