Risa asked recently in what words could one describe photographs if one did not
use the language of modern critical theory.
I have many books describing photographs going back to the early years of the
nineteenth century, not all of which by any means are technical in nature.
One could also think in terms of image making going back a further few hundred
years. I have already suggested some of these to Risa off list.
Given the rather arcane nature of our enthusiasm, I wondered if others on the
list had books they might recommend to us all that had fired their own
persistence with alternative processes or with picture or image making.
