I have a range of colour litho inks inks sitting in my bromoil draw including
some made by the Graphic chemical and inks Company USA. If you write to them I
am sure that they will send you a colour chart.

Use burnt sienna for red chalk..

T N Lawrence, Intaglio, Charbonnel and Adana all make or market a range of
colour litho inks which are suitable for Bromoil..

If you wish to thin the ink use one drop of linseed oil and to thicken it use a
miniscule amount of light magnesium sulphate from the pharmacy. It is used to
ward off the effects of smelly feet. You may find that you get better results
if you spread the ink on the glass thickly and then let it stand over night
before using it.

I attach a note I sent to Karl Heinz recently that may help. Text continues

Karl_Heinz, Hi

Nice to hear from you.

There is a company called Adana who make inks for their small hand printing
presses. They supply colours in tubes. The colours are
Light blue, dark blue,red,green,orange,yellow,Brown,violet,dark grey,gold,silver
and black. The colours are inexpensive. If you like i will get them to send you
some information as they are about three hundred yards away. Their fax nunber
is 0181 744 9708.

I use Charbonnel lithographic inks from France and lithographic inks from the
Graphical Chemical and Ink Company in Illinois. Intaglio supply these inks
(fax 0171 928 2711) and other lithographic inks under their own brand name as
do T N Lawrence (Fax 0171 430 2234) who make theirs in Cornwall. I also buy
printing inks from Michael Putnam (Fax 0171 924 3551 address 151 Lavender Hill
London SW 11 5QJ who supplies inks to the British Bromoil Circle, the fax number
may have changed.

My bromoil and gravure draws are full of materials from all these suppliers as
they all seem to work well.

I could contact any of them on your behalf if you wish.

If we had such a gesellschaft in England I suspect that we would spend more time
bickering than making pictures !

I have along list of suppliers in England but I would always be grateful for
information about suppliers in other countries.

and I think on the list too, that there is a lack of

As far as I am aware the only really effective bromoil paper is Document Art
from Kentmere who have distributors in Germany.
I have tried others but the Kentmere paper is the only one that can be relied
on. Otherwise I recommend making oil pigment prints on water-colour paper.

I hope that this is helpful.

Jurek tells us of a new baryta bromoil paper from Fotokemika in Croatia. I have
tried to fax them but the system does not recognise the number I have. Could
Jurek or anyone else let me have more details ?
