When I was a child (admitedly a fairly long time ago) boric acid solution
was used to wash out eyes when you got something in them. Also I remember
being dosed with nose drops called Argerol which my physician tells me
consisted of a weak solution of silver nitrate. This explains my long time
interest in photography and why I have never been bothered by insects. ;-)
