I was using 2 drops of ferric oxalate solution and two drops of palladium per
step wedge applied with a glass rod to ensure that was no carry over.. The
exposure was purely arbitrary. A longer exposure would have given more steps and
implied a negative with a longer range.

In fact, in tests over the past few days, I have obtained platinum / palladium
prints from negatives varying by over five stops in density with no addtional
chemicals for contrast controls.

( I was just checking to see if I could ' put my money where my mouth was', if
you will excuse the vernacular.)
