Hi Folks,I have acquired several deomestic U.V. tanning units over the
years ranging from a mini 9" hand held unit( single tube), a 10" X 8" facial
unit(four tube). a 16" X 20" (ten tube) unit up to an eight tube full length
sunbed which will expose three 30" X 40" prints at one time. Prices went from
$1.5 (2nd user facial unit) to $60 ..... but, I would like to get involved
with doing more tests with the good old SUN using light meter (actinometer)
readings to use in calculations for dichromate gel exposure. I feel there is
nothing to be lost by using necessarily long exposure times.Once the general
level of light needed is found, by trial and error, for a particular
neg/sensitizer/ gel combination................then, the" error" either way
is a very small percentage of the total. After all, JOE ( Jose Ortiz Echague)
seemed to manage O.K. with the SUN, altho, of course, unfortunately, we were
never priviledged to see the results of his failures.
Except for the lucky "first time right shot", most of my print
work is" failure" which I accept.Good reason for using thinner, cheaper, but
good quality paper for printing on.! 100gsm or even thinner. Good quality
writing paper .I learn more this way without the worry of great expense and
am not frightened to make more mistakes......which I DO show to a few people.

Regards for now John. ftgrfst.
P.S. Soon.....a short description of "Cream Cracker" 30394 cardboard 10"
X 8" camera. Must go now. Quite busy !
