As promised, here is the material on the safty speaker my wife brought in to
her art teachers convention.

Monona Rossel
ACTS
Arts, Crafts and Theater Safety
181 Thompson Street., # 23
New York, N.Y. 10012-2586
(212) 777-0062
75054.2542@compuserve.com

There is no indication as to whether the 212 number is voice, FAX or both.

ACTS has a pile of publications which are listed at reasonable prices. In
addition they seem to pull sections from their books to sell as pamphlets.
Maybe they could put together something specialized for the specific
chemicals in alt-photo; it is clear they have the expertise for it.

The three books listed in the material I have are:

The Artist's Complete Health and Safety Guide. 340 pp. $19.95 + $3.00 S&H

Stage Fright: Health and Safety in the Theater. 130 pp. $12.95 + $3.00 S&H

Overexposure: Health Hazards in Photography. 320 pp. $19.95 + $3.00 S&H

Canadian Orders add $2.00 to each item. This is all $US. This is for
information only, I'd check with them directly before ordering. No, I have
no connection of any sort other than that my wife thought very highly of
Monona Rossel's talk.

I haven't seen any of these but I have in front of me right now a pamphlet
Teaching Art Safely which is excerpted from the artists guide and I think it
is quite good. Especially in terms of protection from litigation as well as
protecting students. Frankly, I think that any of you that teach in the
U.S. should have her stuff or something equally good.

For the Australians, there is a group, Artsafe, at the University of
Melbourne that has produced a safety video of some sort. ACTS sells it so
they must think highly of the material.

If ACTS wants to know how you found out about them, tell them that the
contact came from Rochelle Robkin because of a talk Monona gave in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Eugene Robkin
