some salt print/bromoil/POP questions

I wanted to ask if anyone had any ideas about the following

- With salt prints I normally size the paper, then coat with salting solution,
then coat with sensitizer.
I saw in the Keepers of Light that they combined the size and the salting
solution and put them on in one go, which saves time.
Are there any reasons why I shouldn't just do this - is it because the salting
solution without the gelatin keeps much longer?

- With bromoils I clean the shaving brush and other things for bromoiling with a
paintbrush cleaner, and wash them out under the tap.
I'm wondering how long I should wait before using them - sometimes they still
smell a bit of paintbrush cleaner, and I wonder if this affects my success/failu
re rate with bromoils.

- With POP I've had much more success toning after fixing and washing than I
have with the method on the instruction sheet, which is to tone then fix. Have
other people had the same experience?

Look forward to hearing your views
