This might appear off topic but it strikes at the heart of artistic
expression,
which is truly germane to the List. A major assault on Jock Sturges by
extremist Christian groups in the Southern United States. Barnes and Noble has
been indicted for selling Sturges work in Alabama, and Sturges is under
attack.
The apparent strategy is to bankrupt him. I have posted a letter from John
Wood, editor of 21st and Journal of Contemporary Photography which asks for
support. To quote Mr. Wood from his letter:

>
> We could debate taste, the ethics of nude photography, the nature of
> eroticism, or even the question of whether we live in a excessively
> protective society. But these are not the issues at play here. There is only
> one issue here, and it is a Constitutional issue, and it should unite us
all.

Mr. Wood is seeking support in writing from professional artists, curators,
educators, and critics, for Jock Sturges. The details can be found at:

Thanks for your tolerance.
