Sophie,

Your response to my question on earth pigment emulsion:
>I am just wondering how similar this process is to gum bichromate - is it
>the colloid that defines it apart from Gum printing or it essentially the
>same except using casein rather than gum arabic? The actual mechanics of
>the process sound similar to gum printing...

As I know next to nothing about gum bichromate printing except what I've been
reading about on the list, I am in the dark so to speak, but it is sounding
very similar. The responses I've gotten so far with technical information
are:

>Casein processes are described in my _Gum Dichromate and Other Direct
>Carbon Processes, from Artigue to Zimmerman_

>Luis Nadeau
>NADEAUL@NBNET.NB.CA
>Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada
>http://www3.nbnet.nb.ca/nadeaul/

And...

>Hi Cynthia in the book New dimensions in image making by Laura Blacklow
>republished by Focal Press last year has a chapter on the subject of Cassien
>printing. Also in the States i beleive that lightimpressions of Rochester sell
a >kit called Kwick print which i beleive uses the cassein process hope this
helps >Dennis in London

I will be checking them out.

Cynthia
