Historic Process Workshops - May 2 through 13, 1998

Those wishing to experience and understand historical photo processes right
here in Toronto will have the experts brought to their doorsteps as Mike
Robinson of Century Darkroom hosts workshops with top faculty from the
George Eastman House in Rochester N.Y. The schedule includes:

Sat. May 2 OR Sun. May 3 - Wet-Plate Collodion workshop with Mark Osterman
and France Scully Osterman. Make your own ambrotypes under the guidance of
these expert practitioners.

Sun. May 10 OR Mon.May 11 - Daguerreotype workshop will bring Kenneth E.
Nelson to demonstrate the original photographic process and work with a
group to make a daguerreotype.

Tues. May 12 AND Wed. May 13 - Albumen Printing workshop will study under
the guidance of Mike Robinson to make and print with albumen paper, the
most widely used printing process of the 19th century.

Roger Watson, Assistant Director of Conservation and Museum Studies at the
George Eastman House, will discuss the history and preservation of these
historic processes during each workshop.

All workshops are for the full day, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Wet-Plate and the
Daguerreotype workshops are one day events ($150.00 CDN) while the Albumen
Printing workshop is a two-day event. ($250.00 CDN). Each participant will
receive a comprehensive and easy to follow manual specific to the process.

Space is limited to 6 per day for the Dauerreotype Workshop and 8 per day
for the Collodion workshop and 8 for the Albumen Workshop. Classes fill
fast so register soon by contacting Mike at Century Darkroom.

George Eastman House continues its historic Photographic Process Workshops
at their facilities in Rochester. "Beginning" courses are followed by
"Advanced" courses, offerred to those qualified. Register early. Fees $125
to $325 USD.

March 28 or 98 - Wet-Collodion Workshop
April 4 & 5 - Albumen Printing Workshop
May 16 or 17 - Daguerreotype Workshop
August 1 & 2 - Advanced Wet-Collodion Workshop
