I am interested in information for freezing large sheet film? I use HP 5
plus and use sheets up to 12x20 inch.
1) Is it necessary to place a box of unopened film in an airtight plastic
bag first before freezing it or can I just put the boxes directly in the
freezer?>>

No, but when you take the box out to thaw, the cardboard (actually pasteboard)
will pick up moisture and become soggy. So I always put all my boxes in
plastic bags.

>> 2) If a box has been opened already , some sheets used and then the box is
resealed, is a plastic bag needed?>>

Yes, by all means, use plastic bags. They are cheap insurance.

>> 3) How about refreezing film a second or third time such as film that was
thawed and the film was not used on a trip so it is refrozen?>>

Some people do, some don't. Paper can be re-frozen, and I have not had any
problems. The best bet is to just refrigerate the once-frozen film, not re-
freeze.

And never freeze Polaroid film.

>> 4) Has anyone had any problems with freezer burn on film in these cases?>>

I never have. Any one else care to comment? I would suppose the packaging
would control feeze rate enough to prevent freeser burn. The plastic bags
should prevent it.

>> 5) Any recommendations with the type of freezer needed?
>>

No. Just don't bend the film, and allow it to thaw before opening.
