Resources for producing Laserjet/acetate negatives

I'm about to venture into cyanotype and am wondering if there are any
reference sources (besides the communal mind here, that is) on producing
enlarged negatives with graphics programs and laserjet printers.

I'm interested in steps to increasing negative density (i.e. how does a
1.8 density translate into steps to perform that in something like
Photoshop) and traps and pitfalls in producing the enlarged negatives.
