On the contrary he showed me an awful lot of things and was very
informative on a whole range of subjects, including the reasons why he is
not willing to cooperate with certain people, which I can only respect.
I've previously suggested strongly that a principle of posting to this
list should be that we recognise the positive aspects of what various
people have done. Dunstan has developed at least two fine processes which
show us all what can be done. Terry has previously organised the most
successful conference on alt-photo to date and appears to have put in a
lot of work at short notice to set this year's event up.
I find your responses on both subjects mean, petty and depressing - and
extremely disappointing.
Anyone who feels they will learn nothing from either the exhibition that
will:
>demonstrate the finest work in various alternative processes by modern
>photographers and printers of the highest international standards. The
>objective will be to show what can be achieved to inspire others to
>higher standards.
and a symposium including:

> Photo-ceramics

is in my opinion suffering from a very advanced case of the delusion that
they know it all!
Of course added to the very reasonable cost for the event of only £140 are
travel and hotel costs - which certainly if you like to live and travel in
style could well mount up. (I'm pretty sure there is a youth hostel if you
really need to keep costs down - and you don't need to be young for these.
If I lived closer I'd offer my floor for anyone who wanted to crash, but
its about as easy to get to Paris or Brussels or New York as Bath from
where I live.) I'm sure Terry may have some suggestions on lower cost
accommodation.
However I find it hard to imagine that anyone with a professional interest
in the area would want to miss out (and many would be able to get some
institutional funding). I'm sure anyone who went last year would recommend
it - except for the unusual heat which I doubt we will have again this
year.
My only problem with it is that Terry has picked on one of only two
weekends in the year when I really do have to work and it wouldn't be
acceptable to have anyone replace me.
