Re: List Cleansing or capital punishment

I dare anyone who critisizes my decision to take my place as list manager.

I knew full well that what ever decision I made would not satisfy
everyone.

I haven't felt that it has been necessary to disuss this further but ...

In my dialog with Terry King regarding his postings and behaviour I was
looking for one thing only. I disregarded the he saids she saids
conspiracy theories etc.

I wanted Terry to apologise to me and "the list" for making inflamatory
conflict provoking statements on the list. I wanted recognition from him
that he acted inappropriately and a committment not to do so in the
future. That was all I was looking for.

His original statement alone was not grounds for dismissing him from the
list. His refusal to admit that it was unacceptable and refusal to make a
committment not do so again, in my opinion gave me justification to
dismiss him from the list.

If he had apologised, promised not to make anymore inflamatory remarkds I
would have left him on the list. I knew full well that this would have
not satisfied many people on the list.

I did not make an arbitrary decision favouring one group or another.
Terry began this conflict, he was unwilling to resolve it.

The assurance that one will be treated with due respect is critical to the
survival of this list. If there is anything to be gained from this futile
adventure it is how easy this mailing list could be destroyed.

I do not know how to make everybody happy - if anyone else does, please
let me know.
