Additional comments on SLOPPY Students

I never put up with sloppy and untidy people working in any of the
darkrooms I worked in. This includes the Salt Lake Art Center, a High
School or two, and a commercial Lab where I worked. The reason is simple:
chemical slop, fixed and unwashed prints laying around, as well as chemical
spills that are not properly cleaned up lead to tremendous problems. Fixer
dust, for example, can contaminate unprocessed film, it will land on
negative carriers, etc. Fixer contaminated hands will contaminate enlarger
optics, condensers, etc.

So, if my comment has upset you - I partially apologize. The fact
remains, sloppiness in a darkroom is not to be tolerated. BTW: 90 or so
students per day is a bunch to keep track of, but it can be done. I have
banned students from the darkrooms I have been in charge of for this kind
of stuff.
