With the list’s indulgence I’d like to make the following announcement
which may be of interest to any lovers of alternate process photography
who have not yet taken the plunge into working in large format to
produce original in-camera negatives for your cyanotypes, VDB’s, or
platinums.
I will be teaching a course on “The View Camera” at the Cape Cod
Workshops this August 24-28. As the title implies, the course will
center on the use of the adjustable large format view camera and will
concentrate on understanding--and creative use of--view camera controls.
The emphasis will be on shooting and daily analysis and feedback from
ongoing work. B&W film and proofs will be processed by the workshop
staff so students can concentrate entirely on field work. Of course all
the creative possibilities of the view camera are as useful to the
alternate process photographer as to someone working in silver. (Anyway,
I just _have to_ get out of the darkroom for a while.)
