Hello Curtis i have admired the work of William Mortensen for many years,in
The Keepers of Light Crawford called it Pictorialism gone Hollywood,in 1979
there was an exhibition of his work at the Los Angles Centre for Photographic
Studies they produced a nice catalogue called "The Magic Of William Mortensen"
which lists a bibliography of his books and articles Deborah Irmas wrote the
introduction and Suda House the forward she is also the author of the book
"Artistic Photographic Processes" .If you look at the Ansel Adams
Autobiography written with the help of Mary Allinder you will see his
altercation with Mortensen. What strikes me as being strange is were they that
different they both manipulated the print in different ways.It is interesting
to note that the RPS had to change it's rules to allow him to exhibit his
Metalchrome prints because they were coloured not colour. Details of the
Metalchrome process can be found in the PSA Journal March 1970.Lastly
Textureefects 498,N.McPherson,FortBragg.California Tel 1-800-477-4741 were
selling mortensens Texture effects Negatives but also The book Monsters And
Madonnas and also a video about his life .Hope you find this of interest
