Re: re-photographing negatives

The responses thus far got me thinking about something that I've seen in the
archives. Copying negs onto chrome film would (or could with filters and
changes in processing) give a colour to the final matrix (negative). This
colour could than change not only the contrast of the final print ( I am
referring here to pt/pl) but also maybe the colour of the final print.
Does anyone remember this thread?
I'm thinking of a matrix with different shadow/ highlight colours which
might result in split tones in the final print ( or at least as a way to
control contrast).
I've heard that the Ziatype, the Ware/ Malde POP pt/pl, and the Chrysotype
can result in split tones but was thinking of a way to control this by
matrix colour.

This method (E-6 copying of negs) seems impractical for many reasons but
might be a good approach for making reprints from historical negatives
which match ( in coulor tone) to its original prints.

Just a thought.
