Yes, it has been covered and you will find it very easy to search the
archives if you try. You could probably even find some of the references
using the normal web search tools.

For some of the processes it isn't even necessary to actually make ferric
oxalate - it will work if you put the right bits together in solution. I
haven't done this for Ziatype, so I don't know if it will work for this.

For kallitype (and platinum) I found that a suitable ferric oxalate
solution was obtained by dissolving the following in 20ml distilled water
and leaving to stand for 24hrs:

iron(III) nitrate nonahydrate 8.4g
potassium oxalate monohydrate 5.7g
oxalic acid 0.25g

Silverprint list these chemicals - the oxalate and oxalic acid are pretty
poisonous. Some people have told me it shouldn't work, but I do have the
prints to prove it!

If you are not a chemist I'd suggest if the above isn't suitable it might
be best to buy it (again sources have often been mentioned on list), or at
least go and see how someone else makes it. If you are anywhere near
London you might get in touch with Terry King who I suspect would
demonstrate a simple method at some of his workshops which I think will
use none of the equipment you mention - though I have demonstrated this
for him long ago.

Terry is KINGNAPOLEONPHOTO@compuserve.com if you want to email him.
