Jack, with all due respect to Carlos, it is probably not possible to
distinguish a kallitype from pl-pd with the naked eye, especially if
developed in sodium acetate, which IME gives the best color & scale. We
have in past speculated on the list that the paucity of early kallitypes
is exactly because all were sold as pl-pd. I'll add that my own tests
with both kallitype & VDB showed exactly the scale I got with pl-pd, tho I
was hardly a maven of that medium.

The question in my mind -- not put to rest -- is archivality. I've seen a
bad sign or two with the kalli. In any event, it couldn't hurt to gold
tone. But maybe selenium tone would do the same thing without breaking the
bank?

Has anyone selenium-toned a kallitype?

Judy
