Heheh, two bad examples. Polavision was one company's bad attempt, and Beta died
because they didn't want to license it, while JVC licensed VHS to everyone in
sight. Now you can buy Sony brand VHS tapes. But in the case of APS, you have
competitors in both film and cameras working together to create a new system, to
keep film sales alive.
