>>Pete, is there some reason you think this information is less relevant to
the list at large than some of the other material dispensed? Come on,
don't be shy, or is it DELICATE ? I mean if we're going to be delicate, I
myself am so delicate I cannot BEAR going to the web except in emergencies
(such as the current one in which I have accidentally trashed ALL of
Photoshop -- actually it was easy -- and have to head for the north pole
to get my scanner drivers again, another story to be sure).<<

As you know I am a very shy and delicate person ! Sorry for the late reply
but I have just got back from Spain and have been setting a workshop for
June at Cann Serrat all seems to be going OK but I am still keeping my
fingers crossed.

Hear are some more details of the frame--:

Litestar Pin-Register Frames

Useful if not essential whenever it is required
to precisely register a piece of film with
the paper upon which it is being printed. At
the commencement of operations the film
negative or positive are punched together with
the printing paper, and one is from then
on guaranteed that the images can be married
together for multiple exposures. Kodak
produce a register punch and frame, but we have
never supplied one, as people tend to
lose interest once they have learned the price.
These new frames are budget priced,
designed and made by Peter Frederick, whose
long experience in working with and
teaching the bichromate processes is incomparable.
The punch hole diameter and spacing is that of
the a standard 4-hole stationary paper
punch. As these vary slightly from one punch to another, the pins are set
to a specific punch which is supplied mounted
onto the frame. The accurately turned pins are set into a water-proof and
easily cleaned plastic coated wooden base, and
after the film and paper are seated they are brought into full contact by
covering with the supplied glass.
The smallest format supplied is 12x12", where contact is maintained by 4
clips, placed at each corner.
The larger format advanced frames (as picture) use an ingenious pressure
system to maintain register across the larger
format. After assembly of negative and print material, and placing below
the glass, the assembly is clipped at the corners,
and a small degree of pressure built below it by pumping air into the
rubber apron at the base. This produces good contact
in the central area, that would be otherwise outside the radius of the clips.

 Precision Register Frame 16x20"

Register Pins

If you want to produce your own pin-register system, these precision turned
brass pins
can be purchased separately, either in disc form, for mounting onto a flat
surface, or as
pegs for fitting into a drilled surface. These are the correct diameter for
any standard 2
or 4 hole stationery punch. Bear in mind that these punches vary in spacing
slightly
from unit to unit, so always purchase the punch first, and set the pin
spacing to this
specific punch.
