Adam,
Are you doing large format? If not, you will need to make enlarlged negative
for your alt. process anyway, so you could increase the contrast if you use
lith film for your intermediate and/or final step.
But if you want your original negative to have that much density range, you
might try tech pan film or even lith film processed for low continuous tone.
The speed is low, but it sounds like you are taking pictures of something
still.
