Re: Homemade paper and Luminos

Garimo;

No, your blender is nothing like a Hollander beater. This device consists
of an iron tube in an oval shape, with an empty central area. So it is a
two sided U-shaped channel that is joined into a oval shape. In the middle
of one of the straight sides is a rotation wheel of large teeth. The fibers
are placed into the tank that is filled with water and then the beater pulls
the soup into the beating mechanism and then pushes it around the track.
The beater is not actually tearing apart the fibers but really beating them
as if by hand. This caused the fibers to separate, but not be broken or cut
up as will happen in a blending mechanism. The problem with this Hollander
beaters is that they are expensive, probably about $3000., but they are the
best way to make paper. See if there are some papermakers in your area
where maybe you can get some time on one of these machines.
