It would seem that a new negative must be made that will print both the
shadows and the highlights desired. Forget any preference that may go
against the principles of the process. Trying to do this by additives
or process alterations will not give as good of results (if at all) as a
correctly made negative.

An alternative: if you are not satisfied with the abilities of the Pt/Pd
process, other processes may be tried.

Correct, theses additives will only make your particular problem worse.

If you would complete the matrix as described in Chapter three of my
guide, you may begin to understand the relationships of the print, the
negative, and your seeing.

It is not a bit difficult to make negatives, either analog or digital.
You can follow the same matrix even when making digital negatives.
Alter the negatives logically, make prints, and study the results. And
remember, there will always be restrictions imposed by whichever process
is chosen.
