Depends upon which printer...

Different models use different inks...

Paper is a big variable too.

The 1270 (and 870) is supposed to be Epson's best but there are two provisios:

1) Epson is apparently having major quality control problems on the paper
production for the 1270 and 870...

2) Epson just announced a printer to be available in July with even better
archival ratings...

Tell me what printer are you interested in, then I can give you info..
