Good point, Chris. I might suggest that if this is a problem and the
photographer has to jump through all these hoops, then forget it. It is
not worth it. There will be plenty of opportunities in the future to
display images. We have the Internet which offers far more opportunities
for artists. I know a public showing is important to some, but I suspect
the aim is commerce, not art with many people. At least the Web is a
relatively free place still, but then again, there are lawyers looking at
the web as fertile ground to grow litigation.
It also seems to me that the school, if it wants protection from
litigation, would provide any releases, not the student.
