The big advantage of the 2000P is the pigment inks. Probably it is better
made also. However if you want glossy pictures that look like enprints
then the 1280 will be better.

I've got 3 Epsons, though neither of the models you are considering - one
is probably beyond economic repair after several years of good service,
the other two working fine. I'd buy Epson again.
