Hello,
I hope this helps ... I have some questions myself that I'll put on the list
...
answer 1 : I use thin copper plate. I let it cut to a size that it
fits under the closing strip at the bottom
of the film holder : when it is in the camera and you
will open the holder ...
the copper plate will stand on his his place. At the
sart I used strip that sicked to the holder
and the plate ... I am rather clumsy ... so there was
to much trouble in the darkroom while
I was loading and unloading ...
answer 2 : I polish the plate till I get a real mirror. The better the
first polishing the better is the last
result after silvering this plate.
While electroplating for the silver layer ... it was
guessing for me at that moment. In the begining when I
gave the plate a last polishing (after puuting the
silver layer) I had the bad experience I polished all the
silver away ... So for me it was trial and error ... I
know this is talking of a messy amateur !!!
answer 3 : I have no idea ... I use a normal CAMBO 4x5. I hope that
this summer I will go bigger ...

Hi all:
1. I have a wood 5 x 7 sheet-film holder (Lisco cut film holder) and I
want adapt it for Daguerreotype use. Any idea?
2. What's the ideal look of a plate (Copper) silvered for daguerreotype?.
and the ideal silver thickness? . Any formula for calculate/control this
ideal silver thickness during electroplating process?
3. I have a 5 x 7 wood view camera and I want to adapt a sheet film holder
for daguerreotype use but, it is easy to make a simple daguerreotype
camera?. I have a rack- pinion (Darlot lens). Any archive, link, etc..
about it?
Thank you
PD: Sorry, my english is very bad
