One photographic chemical which does not have an indefinite shelf life is
rapid fixer (ammonium thiosulphate). Whether in powder or liquid form it
deteriorates after a few years. If in doubt test it with a piece of unused
film. I have found Kodak powder developers in cans to be perfectly
satisfactory after 10 years, likewise Rodinal in unopened bottles.
