Cyanotypes

I hate to ask this question, but here it is:

I have been dabbing a little with the cyanotype process (traditional). On
Arches Aquarelle nearly everything is fine: but in the higher midtones,
found in the sky area of that negativ I tried to print, I cannot avoid
getting a certain granularity. The grainy/blotchy pattern is not at all
seen in the darker, structured landscape parts of the image, nor does it
appear so much in the highlights. It is difficult for me to describe
exactly how it looks; like a paper structure becoming visible, tends to be
a soft pattern of blotches, can be quite nice actually if one wants it, but
I don't!

I have tried applying acedic acid before coating and after exposure,
coating with and without Tween (the smoothest result was with tween and an
acid afterbath). Any ideas? Is this to be expected on Arches Aquarelle? I
get a much more even sky area on Arches Platine, although it is not quite
like printing with palladium or gold.
