The only practical solution is to use filters in below the lens. Since the
filers are in the image path they must be of very high quality. I believe
Ilford supplies a set of filters to be used this way.
If this enlarger by any chance has a color head the color filters work
fine for changing contrast. Nearly all variable contrast printing papers
have charts for color head settings on the data sheet for the paper.
Usually, the range of contrast available this way is not quite as great as
when filters are used.
I would love to have one of these Rolls-Royce elargers but have no room,
they are enormous.
