I use a Lowepro backpack as well, but the camera is so big (Wisner 8x10 Tech
Field) I carry it all by itself and check the backpack, put it in the
overhead between some pillows. Never had a problem with security or airline
staff here or overseas. (Use a ground glass protector.)

Subject: travelling with an 8x10 camera

What's the best sort of "suitcase" to put an 8x10 camera in for flying? I'd
like to carry it on. It barely fits in my Lowepro backpack that I've been
carrying the 4x5 around it, so I'd like to make or get something better for
it, but still small enough to fit through the hole in the Xray machine at
the airport.
