Win98SE will handle 512Mb memory OK (and more - I use 768Mb), but you may
need to adjust some virtual memory management settings for it to work
efficiently with large amounts of real memory. I can't remember the details,
unfortunately.

I think Windows SE will only utilize 256 meg of memory or possibly just 128
meg; upgrade to Windows XP Professional, I've used it for over a year and
have very very few problems. Do take note that not all devices are supported
by XP Pro since hardware vendors may not offer upgraded drivers, however
they may be often used in compatibility mode successfully.

You would be better served by purchasing a 2200 for color printing
(including digital negatives) and converting the 1280 to hextone B&W.

I've heard mixed comments about the Luminos inksets. They are much more
expensive than MIS quads but do allow for printing on full gloss papers (if
I recall correctly) and I believe they provide a limited number of paper
profiles for free.
