Foxing is due to improper fixing and toning or excessive display under
harsh
lighting. The surface of albumen is subject to cracking (yuk-yuk)
actually its a determining characteristic of the emulsion. I guess the
image could be refixed and retoned if one was given to such bold
procedures on a
100+ year print :-)
