Acidify 1 liter of water. Add 1 to 2 gm of citric or oxalic acid.

Add a small quantity of photographers 5% gold chloride. (Hydrochlorauric
acid) For an 8x10 try 5 drops. It must be used immediately and cannot be
saved after use.

Make sure the print is washed thoroughly.

Place print in solution.

You should see an immediate color shift to a darker brown/black

The gold will exhaust rather quickly so with some skill and playing around
you can control the toning and color shift to some degree by using small
amounts of gold. Tricky but can be done.

Wash and dry. Your done.

The same trick can be done with palladium solution #3 or platinum solution
No. 3. Standard mixes for pt and pd printing. Just use them instead of the
gold.
