If it's stock solution, I've never had it go bad. And the work solutions
have an incredible life - even if they are stored in partial bottles:
certainly months and months - even years of life.
The plating out that Eric mentioned is, apparently, elemental selenium (I
had always thought it was silver precipitating out) - the question was just
asked on (another?) list. At any rate, the sediment makes no odds either
way.
Emmet Gowin suggests soaking a few prints overnight in work solutions you
plan to throw away - to absorb the selenium and lessen the toxicity.
