Re: Deep blacks in Pd, Pt/Pd
In looking at some of the curves in Dick Arentz' book, Platinum and
Palladium Printing, the IdMax is around 1.35. I suspect from these
curves that in practice a maximum density of 1.45 - 1.50 would be
about the most one could expect to get from any combination of
platinum or palladium.
According to the book the curves referenced above were on Cranes
Parchement and complete working procedures are described. Other
papers would probably give higher or lower values.
I have read the densities of quite a number of Pt/Pd prints and have
not seen any maximum density higher than 1.45.
